WATER SUPPLY SERVICES
The current estimate water supply deficit within Mavoko subcounty is 30,000m3/d. Expansion of existing and development of new water sources as well as increased bulk supply is expected to significantly reduce this deficit.
SEWERAGE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
Sewerage Infrastructure expansion with a key strategic objective of increasing coverage from 20% to 40% by the year 2028.
CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION
Our services are greatly negatively affected during periods of prolonged drought and flooding. To mitigate against the effects of climate change we have initiated catchment area protection programs and continue to increase capacity in climate change resilience and adaptation including adoption of green energy solutions.
SANITATION SERVICES
To increase access to safe sanitation we have installed hand washing facilities to serve the most vulnerable in society especially around market places and the informal settlements, Constructed a public sanitation block, Initiated school WASH programs and strengthened internal institutional capacity to handle both sewered and non-sewered sanitation. Establishment of city wide inclusive sanitation (CWIS) is one of our core key strategic result areas.
NRW REDUCTION
To reduce our non revenue water from 34 % to 25 % we continue to embrace technology and strengthening internal institutional capacity. We have greatly benefited from JICA technical support and are currently piloting smart metering as well as implementing District Metered Areas (DMAs
WATER DISTRIBUTION RESERVOIRS
To enhance water distribution we have ground and elevated reservoirs strategically located in Athiriver, Syokimau and Lukenya areas.
