MAVWASCO has set up, capacity built and adequately equipped a dedicated non revenue water team to manage non revenue water. Water loss as a result of unaccounted for water currently stands at 34% a phenomenon which MAVWASCO is committed to progressively reduce to the industry acceptable levels of 25%.
To reduce NRW the following strategies have been laid out:-
- Establish and Operationalize 25 DMAs and link to the billing system
- Replacement of 500 customer meters annually as per the metering policy.
- Servicing and testing of 2,000 meters annually.
- Participatory management for NRW Activities.
- Continuous Leak detection and management.
- adoption of technology in metering, meter reading and billing.
MAVWASCO has received enormous technical support from the JICA expert technical team.
